The city was swarming with cyclists. Cars, bikes and pedestrians intersected constantly at a very fast pace. Nobody wore helmets. We often saw several people on one bike including small children, and the passengers usually were not holding on to anything. Many cyclists talked on cell phones while whizzing through traffic.
Our Amsterdam hotel, The Golden Tulip
This gorgeous building is a grocery store!
The Concertgebouw concert hall in Amsterdam. We heard the Elgar cello concerto and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
We visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
I was delighted to see Borowski glass sculptures in a gallery. I feature Pawel and Stanislaw Borowski's glass sculptures in my Web portfolio site Glassform Gallery and had never seen the real sculptures before.
We visited the art gallery in this church.
I liked this interesting violin on display.
As a collector, I was happy to see miniatures in a museum.
Cheese was plentiful, tasty and inexpensive.
We drank a lot of European coffee and usually ate in cafés and our hotel room. We enjoyed much wine, various cheeses, patés, smoked salmon, sausage, crackers and chocolate. All of this including wine, along with kitchen stuff and clothing, was available inexpensively at a store we like called Hema.
Amsterdam is filled with many canals
We took a canal tour of Amsterdam on one of these boats.
